Door configurator that opened up new possibilities for sales and communication

OK DOORS is one of the key brands owned by RADEX Poland Sp. z o.o., one of the leading door manufacturers in Poland. The brand was created with customers in mind who value quality, aesthetics, and reliability.
RADEX, operating since 1986 in Iława, has built a strong position in the European door joinery market through effective management and continuous investment.
OK DOORS products—just like other RADEX brands—are available in major home improvement and DIY retail chains in Poland and across Europe, such as Leroy Merlin, Obi, Castorama, Bricomarche, PSB Mrówka, and many other renowned retail networks.
As a brand serving distributors nationwide and abroad, OK DOORS operates in a B2B2C model, which requires flexible solutions tailored to the specifics of the industry as well as the needs of business partners and end customers.

Needs
RADEX approached us with a specific need arising from their extensive range of exterior doors. OK DOORS products offer customers a wide variety of configuration options—from choosing the door system (which affects factors such as thermal insulation), to selecting the model, color, hardware, and type of locks.
This flexibility is crucial both in B2B relationships, where the ability to tailor the offer to business partners matters, and in the context of the brand’s first steps into direct online sales (D2C e-commerce). Regardless of whether the recipient is a company or an individual customer, each product must meet specific, individual expectations.
The goal of the project was to bring this multi-layered product offering into the online world—by creating a modern configurator and e-commerce platform for the OK DOORS brand, fully integrated with the company’s existing processes and tools.
The new solution was designed not only to streamline the sales process but, above all, to allow B2B clients and potential contractors to independently “click through” their own door configurations in a clear and intuitive way. The configurator was also intended to support sales activities and, in the near future, B2C/D2C e-commerce—helping to showcase the brand’s broad capabilities and make purchasing decisions easier.
Challenges
The main technical challenge was to create an advanced configuration system that would enable comprehensive personalization of a wide variety of door models. The key requirement was to design and implement the following system components:
- Dynamic visualization generator: The system had to provide the user with real-time door visualizations, dynamically updating their appearance after every configuration change—for example, changing the color, type of glazing, or handle style. For instance, when a customer selects a door with glazing, they should immediately see how the door’s appearance changes when a specific type of glass is applied.
- Accurate and flexible pricing system: Every configuration element—from the door system to the hardware—had to affect the final price. The system needed to dynamically recalculate the price after each parameter change. Example: selecting a higher-class system increases the price, while changing the lock type adjusts the cost accordingly.
- Exclusion system: To prevent the creation of invalid or incompatible combinations, it was necessary to develop a mechanism that would automatically exclude certain options based on the user’s previous selections. For example, choosing a specific door system might limit the availability of certain lock types.

- Multi-step door configurator: Allows customers to fully personalize their doors. The configuration process includes selecting the base model, door system, width, as well as details like colors, glazing, and hardware. Thanks to an intuitive interface, users are guided through each step, making the entire process easy and enjoyable.
- Interactive real-time visualization: Every change made by the customer in the configurator is immediately reflected in the door visualization. This allows customers to see how each modification affects the final product’s appearance, boosting their confidence and satisfaction with the purchase.
- Accurate pricing system: The system uses advanced algorithms to instantly recalculate the price with every configuration change. It takes into account complex dependencies between components, so customers see the exact final cost of their selection right away.
- Intelligent exclusion mechanism: The system eliminates the risk of ordering impossible configurations. By dynamically adjusting available options, customers can only create configurations that are feasible, ensuring order accuracy and positively impacting the production process.
- Mobile compatibility: The configurator and e-commerce platform were designed to be fully responsive, allowing smooth use on smartphones and tablets—whether by sales representatives in the field, B2B partners, or individual customers.
- Scalability: Our solution is scalable, enabling easy expansion of the platform with new product options or door lines, providing RADEX Poland with flexibility for the future.
