Archon Studio has
reached a new level of the game

The owners of Archon Studio approached us because their online store needed a visual overhaul and new functionalities. Moreover, Archon wanted to enable players to place orders from all over the world! The owners dreamed that every pixel of the website would be as perfect as their miniature figures and that their virtual world would be as cohesive as the world of their games. Due to the global reach of their sales, they needed an efficient mechanism to automatically calculate VAT rates, tailored to almost every country in the world.

The primary backend challenge was creating a VAT calculation system that could comply with diverse tax regulations—from the Dungeons of the British Revenue Service to the Unconquered Hills of the German Finanzamt. The second challenge was designing a layout that would allow for the perfect presentation of precisely crafted figures and boards, appealing to users worldwide. As we know, the gaming world operates by its own rules, so the project had to consider their habits and highlight the high quality of the products offered. Especially since Archon is known for its close ties with its community and considers their needs at every level.

Designing the layout and system for Archon Studio was like a good game, approached strategically, though not without surprises. In our store project, we opted for a dark mode, complemented with white and red elements that reference the Archon Studio logo. This combination provides an excellent backdrop for showcasing games, figures, and embedding videos of individual products. This approach received approval from the owners and individual subpages resembled those of Ubisoft, the giant behind iconic video games.

We built a highly intuitive cart where shipping costs are calculated automatically for virtually any location worldwide. Belize, the Philippines, Austria? The shipping cost is displayed immediately.

On the backend, we developed and implemented a VAT recalculation mechanism that allows flexible tax adjustment to meet the requirements of each country globally. Additionally, we introduced the option to define tax thresholds and assign VAT payment responsibility to either the customer or the store depending on whether a predetermined threshold is exceeded (as practiced by some countries).
