We’re designing a bookstore
from A to Z

Websites are not supposed to only work well – they also need to look good, and it’s not just about aesthetics. A well-designed website is one of the keys to better sales and greater client satisfaction. Czytam.pl is one of the more popular online bookstores in Poland – it’s been working since 2005. Some time ago we were approached by a store owner, Wojciech Sterna, who needed support in developing his stores.
The purpose of rebuilding czytam.pl website was mainly to upgrade UX to current standards. The older version was not user-friendly, especially on mobile devices. Our client needed professional resources that would help to redesign the bookstore.

Our involvement was not just about visual changes, though. At Sun Group, we design the whole service from A to Z, just as it was in this case. We covered complex tasks by creating a modern architecture, mechanisms and appearance that was in line with current UX and CX standards.

Realization process

Mobile first and security

Currently on czytam.pl, users can see a modern, intuitive and efficient website. We designed it with a mobile first approach. Long story short – czytam.pl has become a lighter read for the user, a website that achieved great results in speed tests. Our solutions ensure not only easy shopping but also the security. Usability testing showed that czytam.pl meets current standards of how a website should be built.

A user can create an account and use discounts, look into a shopping cart and see a presentation of a wide offer with filters that allow them to sort results per their own preferences. While building a website, we integrated it with a Algolia search engine which effectively helps to display suggestions in the integrated browser.

Pages are clear and load fast which enhances user experience and gives more possibilities to increase sales. A store has all the basics to develop business activities online.

A store can offer a wide range of high quality products at competitive prices but the problem starts when there no customers willing to buy them. This happens because the website of the seller is not readable enough. We cannot forget about a good UX. An old-fashioned look and complicated purchasing process discourage customers from buying. To increase sales, a customer needs a crystal clear presentation of the offer and an easy purchasing process. Of course, behind a friendly and clear website, there should be an advanced mechanism that will ensure that the website works properly and a user experiences a smooth and flawless interaction.

Czytam.pl, thanks to collaboration with Sun Group, meets both conditions. There are more than 200 000 items in 870 categories for sale online. The shop delivers to 24 countries in Europe and does it in a split second. While doing it, it ensures transparency – a customer can follow and be up to date with a delivery status.

The simplicity is also guaranteed thanks to integration with payments gateways (e.g. Przelewy24) and GiftCard system. The latter gives also a possibility of buying a voucher that can be used as a gift.

Thanks to the fact that users buy and receive books very fast, they can also start reading it earlier and instead of wasting time reading the bookstore’s page content, they go through the whole process short and sweet. Less time on the website means more time to read. In collaboration between Sun Group and czytam.pl, it has a literal meaning!
